Overview
In response to a declining trend in summer courses, sections, and enrollments over the past two years, the Provost convened a university-wide planning committee to review summer session operations. The committee conducted an extensive survey of students and faculty to gauge attitudes toward summer session attendance and teaching.
Student Responses to Survey
Respondents included both in-state and out-of-state students. Survey* results revealed the following areas of importance for students:
- Length of class
- Reduction in course load
- Opportunity to complete academic program on time

Faculty Responses to Survey
Respondents included both in-state and out-of-state students. Survey* results revealed the following faculty motivational factors:
- Supplemental income
- Providing students with course options
- Testing a new course or course design

Ad Hoc Committee Members
The committee consists of representatives from the colleges, faculty, students and administration.
Ad Hoc Committee Final Report
It is review, the committee identified three purposes to be achieved by summer session and opportunities for improvement in each of the three areas. The final report contains a description of each, along with student and faculty survey results.
