Overview

In response to a declining trend in summer courses, sections, and enrollments over the past two years, the Provost convened a university-wide planning committee to review summer session operations. The committee conducted an extensive survey of students and faculty to gauge attitudes toward summer session attendance and teaching.

Student Responses to Survey

Respondents included both in-state and out-of-state students. Survey* results revealed the following areas of importance for students:

  • Length of class
  • Reduction in course load
  • Opportunity to complete academic program on time

*Complete survey results available upon request

Faculty Responses to Survey

Respondents included both in-state and out-of-state students. Survey* results revealed the following faculty motivational factors:

  • Supplemental income
  • Providing students with course options
  • Testing a new course or course design

*Complete survey results available upon request
