In 2006, a survey was conducted to identify reasons and factors that influence students' decisions to take Summer Session courses. Respondents included both in-state and out-of-state students.

Survey* results revealed:

  • 37% have taken a Summer Session course from Virginia Tech
  • 35% have taken a Summer Session course from another institution
  • 45% plan to take a Summer Session course from Virginia Tech in the next three years
